XDP Express is the largest privately owned parcel carrier in
the UK, operating a network of around 80 depots. We provide a next-day parcel
service and specialise in handling irregular freight through our manual
sortation system.
Our head office is based in Curdworth, near Birmingham,
where around 50 day time and 40 night time staff work from our 24x7 site. We
also have regional centres in Bradford, Feltham, Cardiff, Manchester and
Cleland.
XDP operates a bespoke system which encompasses all aspects
of the business - from customer consignment entry and tracking, through depot
delivery, customer invoicing and depot payment. This system includes barcode
scanning for tracking.
The IT department is a small team of four covering 7am until
6pm from the head office, across three shifts. On-call support is provided
outside of these times. Support is typically phone/email/remote to depots and
customers, with the occasional requirement to travel out to a depot. Head
office staff may require desk-side support, and there are some mobile users who
would require phone/email/remote support. On-call support is typically
phone/remote support and very rarely involves travel to a depot.
